Assignment 6, Revised (How things work)

The feedbacks from peers and tutor are lesser than my previous assignments, I think this is the greatest praise for me on this course. Thanks. Anyways, i have make a little amendment on this infographic. First is the car orientation is a bit off in the previous infographic, so I draw a new car to replace that particular car and I have added some three dimensional effect on all the car to make it looks more realistic. Besides, I have change the font size to be smaller so the upper part of the infographic will not be so squeeze and the title sounds not so accurate for the previous version so I changed it to "Evolution of Formula 1 Racing car". This is the final version of the infographic.

Assignment 6 (How things work)

In this assignment, we have to design an infographic to show the stages of development. To show the stages of development, I found that the changes of F1 car is also a development process from 1950 until now. So I have decided to design an infographic for Formula 1 sports car. In my design, I arrange the cars based on the different generation, from the oldest to the latest in the curvy track and the car sizes will increase from oldest generation to latest generation too so it will look more dynamic instead of arrange all the cars in 1 row. Below is my infographic of evolution of formula one.

Assignment 5, Revised (Your notion of colorful asia)

For this assigment, my tutor and peers comments are the background color should be different with the costume, the words "Colorful Asia" are reductant and the image at the back of the postcard is quite distracting. So base on these comments, I have make some amendment on this postcard. Firstly, I change all the background color for all the coustume, I select those color will make a contrast with the costume so the costume will looks bold. Secondly, I have change the word "Colorful Asia" become "Asia" due to the post card is colorful enough, the word "Colorful" is quite reductant. Lastly, I make the image almost transparent at the back of the postcard so it will not be distracting.

Assignment 4, Revised (iN2015)

According to the feedbacks, I have make a small amendment on this poster. I put the half transparent background image so it will not distract audience's attention. Besides, behind the NUS logo must not be filled by color or image so I clear the background become empty and I added an IDA logo. This is the work done.

Assignment 5 (Your notion of colorful asia)

Assignment 5 is about postcard design. The title of the assignment is "Your notion of colorful asia". What fisrt come to my mind is the national costume of asia. I found that the national costume of asia are really colorful and identical. Due to Asia is kind of big, so I decided to split Asia into 4 part which is East Asia, South Asia, South East Asia and West Asia. I will choose 1 national costume from each region to represent Asia. For East Asia, I love Korea Hanbok very much, so I choose Hanbok to represent East Asia. For South Asia, I think India Sari will be the best choice. For the South East Asia, I found that Vietnamese Ao Dai is quite special and colorful too. And the West Asia I found that Arabian Belly Dancer costume is very attractive and colorful too. Below are the my artpieces for this assignment.

Assignment 4 (iN2015)

In this assignment we have to design a poster for the theme of "iN2015", Intelligent Nation 2015 of Singapore. After I did some research, I decided to design a poster for iN2015 which is more relevant to Healthcare. Below is the result of my design.

The poster show that a doctor is interacting with his patient thru a healthcare system. So the patient can stay at home and the doctor can monitor the patient remotely thru the system. I use the singapore landscape as the background to show that the masterplan of iN2015 is in the progress in Singapore.

So did you see what I see ? Hehe
The guy was sending sms to her girl friend behind the tree but he was misunderstood by me that he was "peeing" behind the tree. Haha. I make all the background become black and white because I want all the audiences focus on the highlighted objects. Besides, I did add in a male toilet logo and humanise it to make the story more fun. Hope you all did enjoy it.

Assignment 2, Revised (Less is More, Pictogram)

This is the revised version of assignment 2. Some of my peers said the final pictogram look like a CD player or MPS player, so I filled up the washing machine with black color and I put a mini t-shirt, a sock, one third of water and half of the t-shirt is immerge in the water to make it more like a washing machine. Below is the final work.

Assignment 2 (Less is More, Pictogram)

The title of assignment 2 is Less is More. We are asked to design a pictogram for NUS community and show the degree of abstraction for the pictogram. After the brainstorming session, I decided to design a pictogram of the laundry room for the student hostels. As a NUS student, everytime I have shifted into a new residence, I always can't find where is the laundry room. Hence, a pictogram for laundry room is needed in NUS. The drawing below shows the 5 steps of degree of abstraction for my pictogram.

I choose the last one to develop into a prototype. This is the prototype that I designed.

Besides, I have choose a suitable location to put this pictogram. The location is the path way junction of one of the residences in NUS, which is Ridge view residence. This path way junction is the main path from the entrance of the residence to all the blocks in this residence. So I think this location is the best place to show where is the laundry room of this residence. Below is the example of how the pictogram locate at the residence area.

Assignment 1B, Revised(Me, Myself and I)

After get all the feedbacks from my peers, I realised that my previous CG doesn't show my personality but just my name. So I have to modify my drawing to show out my personality. From my peer suggestion, I put myself into the drawing with the racing suit and a sport car which i like very much. In the drawing, I'm driving the sport car towards the racing circuit to join the racing. My face expression show that I'm aggressive, passionate, ambitious and always ready to take up challenges no matter how difficult it is. The circuit is complicated, it shows that life is always complicated but i'm willing to try my best overcome it. Below is my revised prototype for this assignment.

Assignment 1B (Me, Myself and I)

After I get all the feedbacks from peers, I have choose the Car Racing to further develop into an A5 size prototype. Since I'm an aggressive and passionate person, I think Car Racing can represent my characteristic the most. So my idea is to integrate my name into a racing circuit.

1st rough

After I drew the 1st rough, I found that 2D is a bit boring. So I decided to make it 3D hence I can decorate the surrounding of the circuit.

2nd rough

After complete the sketches, I had choose the 2nd rough to further develop into a computer graphic prototype.

Class exercise A (Creativity Machine)

22 June 09, first lesson of NM2208, after an introductory of the module, lecturer and all the instructors, we were asked to sketch a machine that enhances your creativity 100 times. Honestly, I was stunned by the topic and I have nothing in my mind but delicious foods. Haha. So I decided to draw Sushi, one of my favourite foods.
At that time, I think delicious food is the machine that can enhances my creativity. Everytime I consuming delicious foods, my mind will start doing something abnormal like imagine the scene of end of the world, or a space ship fly over the sky or a tree suddenly grow very fast and etc. I know this is funny to some of you but I think this is the way of relax of my mind. So I believe that delicious foods are the machine that will enhances my creativity.

At that night, I was lying on my bed and ready to sleep, I was thinking of the machine again. This time what I think is some machenical machine that can enhances my creativity by inject some chemical or flash through some imagine on my brain. So i get off from my bed and start to sketch the machine.

On the second sketch, a sleeping chair on the left and a mind traveller on the right. The chair is equiped
with a pair of speaker and motion simulator. The mind traveller is a helmet full with brainwave controller. It will transmit the signal to your brain and let your mind travel to the fantasy world which does not exist in this real world. The speaker and the motion simulator will generate the effect to increase the reality that you can feel. Furthermore, you can choose the theme for the world that you want to travel like future world, creature planet, machine world, animal kingdom and etc. In the fantasy world, you will become a part of them so you can live as them which is very different from human live.

With this equipment, I can enhances my creativity anytime.
